I have some of these disconnects and I was looking at putting ball bearings into them but I am unable to work out how to get the truck side frames apart. i am worried I will break something if I try undoing what look like bolts.
Has anyone had these apart?
The rolling capability seems not too bad as they are but I am about to do some Accucraft tank cars as they hardly roll at all.
Whilst comparing the two trucks it seems as thought the disconnect has a smaller axle bearing area, although until I can remove it I can’t really measure and compare. I’m hoping they are the same as it will make purchasing bearings easier.
The disconnect axle doesn’t seem to have the machined shoulder between the wheels, its as if the axle is the same diameter all the way.
