Craig…your raised benchwork looks extremely interesting. Could you please post some pictures and give me a general cost estimate, per linear foot maybe, just generally…Thanks.
If I hit the Powerball, even for the $1000 prize, I think I might need that (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)
Welcome Craig
EDIT: because I do have a Heisler and Shay fetish (no particular order) however my retirement project could someday be a mix of both as one loco
Hi John. I built the raised layout about 5 years ago. Minimum radius is 7 feet. It’s all pressure treated wood for the posts and frame work. The decking is a mixture of Choice deck and Trex. Deck is two feet wide on main runs and four feet wide at the covered steam up bay. Average height from ground is approx 40 inches. There is a 4 foot long hinged bridge for access to the middle of the layout. I can’t remember what it cost me as I built over about two years when funds were available and/or material was at sale price. I will get some photos tomorrow and add to the thread. Craig
Greatly in love with your track.

Could you give approximate dimensions of the outer box and the overall weight so I can check the shipping cost to UK.
Would it be really well padded around the loco in case the inner tapes break and the loco moves back and forth inside the container. (this has happened to me on another Accucraft loco)
Hi Mike,
I will get the dimensions and weight back to you today.
I will make sure it is well padded so no movement at all.
Thanks
Craig
Hi Mike,
The box weighs 27.5 lbs
Approx 12.5 kgs.
The dimensions are 30" long x 15" high x 12" wide.
The outer box is an old Bachman box I had.
The pictures show the engine strapped to the wooden board which is bolted into the metal carrier.
This is then slipped into a tight fitting cardboard box which sits inside the foam layers inside the outer box.
The small brass parts have been removed from the steam dome, as well as the top of the stack, and are in a plastic bag strapped to the packing in the inner box.
Hope this helps.
Craig
