Nice work. Looks great with the steam plumes.
Beautiful work, Charles & Ryan - I hope the owner appreciates what went into this effort.

Wow! Looks like it going to be a strong puller too!
The Royal Hudson stock is a great runner (at times axle pump situation) so all we had to concentration on was the in/out of the fuel setups.
Ah, yes, the axle pump. Mine seized up solid within twenty seconds of getting steam up. Cliff Luscher over in Union City was the hero of the day, shipping me a brand-new unit in the mail that veryday. helped by the nine-hour difference in time-zones. Seems that the Chinese builders tried to best-guess Dick Abbott, who knows more about small-scale axle pumps and the boilers that they are attached to, than any man alive. My original pump did not have ONE O-ring - but TWO, and BOTH were oversize. As the unit heated up, so they ‘grew’, and the loco could not move - even on full throttle!
Now, having been rebuilt by our own Geoff Calver, it is an easy and graceful runner, and can handle twenty cars with ease, even though it is ‘only’ alcohol-fired.

Given that this work required that the owner/operator be able to switch fuel delivery system quite a few custom components were required. The fuel tank had to able to drop in to place and quickly be removable for the coal bunker. The link below is one of many photos showing development on process for changing fuel systems (alcohol/coal)
