Last year I bought my first live steam engine an Aristocraft 0-4-0. It was a great starter engine for me and worked very well. I became a big fan of live steamers. My biggest problem with the Aristo was if the electronics stop working I could never manualy operate the steam engine plus I wanted something a little more hands on and all metal. I really wanted to keep the engine but new I would never be able to get a new one if I did not sell it. I sold my Arsito steamer to a friend plus a few other non railroad items and took some overtime shifts.
After looking at some steamers and talking with TAC and a friend I settled on the Accucraft Forney. I took it out before work today for a test run. All I can say is im in love (sorry Rooster your number 2 now) It ran great on my layout although a little fast. Just have to get use to the controls. By the end I did manage to find a decent setting. I threw a quick video together before haveing to go to work. SOrry most of my buildings are away until the leaves stop falling Grrrrrr
Very cool. I think that was a great decision. That thing really cranks! Need some passenger cars to run that speed
Jon Radder said:Thanks Jon im very happy with it. It takes getting use to the controls. My next step is to add the RC to it. Just want something very basic to control the forward speed not to concered about the reverse.

Nice plume, and really nice layout. Must have been a cool, damp day.
Ha Ha…that Forney is hauling a**
Your track must be in excellent shape. I was half expecting to see a few cars slung off the track

The temps were in the upper 40’s with mist. Snow maybe tonight and better chance friday night.
Great video, Shawn! Bet you are happy you took our advice, eh? A good load behind it will make for a better and more realistic run.
PS - Remember the Second Law of Thermodynamics, as applied to small steam locomotives - ‘Eyebrows grow back’.

Great choice Shawn!
Suits well to your RR.
Alec.
I’m very minded to invest in one of these cute little locos to get my grandyeb on the right track, so to speak. She has a yen for the green version. The one we saw in action at Welshpool this year was hauling an inpression consist of around 24 Rugga side-dump cars, and managing very well, too at e realistic velocity.
They sell for almost twice the US price over here, so I’ll prolly pick one up next time we are over, and mail it back via the APO. I’ve rpomised myself that I’ll shake Cliff’s hand one day - this might give me the excuse to travel down to the state south of Orygun to do it.
Best to all
