Ross, I think Max just did not read carefully or from the beginning of the thread, we all clearly know it was not you that was mad at Accucraft, nor was it you that made the order, and your wording of “if necessary” was clear.
Greg. I was fully aware that Tac not Ross had the issue. I have read most carefully from the start of this thread. I was not implying anything else. And likewise, was just expressing an opinion.
I just lighted on Ross’ comment as it seemed not to take into account that particular (suspected and highly respected) UK (not quite) trader’s terms and the fact that it was in all probability Accucraft (US) that caused the issue and as a result there would be no interest from a UK government body as there would be nothing they could effect in law to remedy that situation in a foreign territory (deep breath and relax). Max.
Edit - The retailer, I suspect is being referred to, for business purposes is “offshore” in an area that is not part of the UK and has the powers to make its own laws independent of the UK government. Fun !
Sorry Max, when you started the post with TAC/Ross, you lumped Ross with Tac… He took it that way too… just a suggestion… I get that you did not intend that, but it was perceived that way.
In reference to your last edit: Tac did indeed state where the dealership is, in the original post. “best dealer in the UK”

Wonder why folks think that a up coming product will not cost more 2 years down the road. Ever see a new car come out for the same price year after year. Later RJD
Aristo’s retooled C-16 was all over the board before it was released. In the end they had to add the long caboose to justify the increase.
Most times projects are released with a projected price, subject to change.

Shucks , majority of cellphone and internet service providers break actual contracts lots of times. But usually the loophole is spelled out in the contract in very small fine print.
“… to back out of the contract that they are a party to, elevate the price, and expects the other party to just bend over, take the swat, and say, "Thank you, sir, may I have another! …”
20% increase over 2 yrs shucks gas at the pumps is bouncing round that much and some food stuffs have increased that much (ex. meats) !

p.s. China labour costs rising transport costs to ship to NA continuing to rise … interesting tv news article on CBC recently about Mexico being the new improved go to place for large corporations for manufacturing (not just assembly no more) the line workers are being trained properly now … the only bad point which even the union Cdn. worker pointed out paid say 20/hr up here Mexican doing same job same quality only 5 !!
IF only the N.A. -based model train manufacturers owned their molds, and the capital to build/train’staff a factory down south of the Rio’… but sadly too much too late !?
Doug, don’t bet on it. We get remanufactured copier assemblies from Mexico. About 3/4 of the time they work, about half the time they work well, and about 1/4 of the time it isn’t even worth trying to use the darn assembly.
Actually, the preferred delaer that I mentioned is not technically IN the UK, or even part of it, as his dealership is located in a Crown Dependency. However, in dealing with customers on the mainland of UK or in Northern Ireland, also part of the UK, he is obliged by trading laws to add all the taxes that normally accrue from dealing WITHIN the UK. His prices, however, and the way he does business with customers in the UK [or anywhere else for that matter] are beyond reproach and criticism and are ALWAYS lower than any competition, nothwithstanding the addition of the necessary tax increment.
He has since contacted me and advised me that he fully understands my POV, and hopes that I’ll let him know ASAP about the deal and whether or not it is still on the cards. Right now, given the news from the other forum, it’s not looking good. As I mentioned, $500 added in the US gets converted instantly into >£500 in UK [right now that’s almost $900] since the base cost, plus shipping and insurance is all added up to make the final tax figure.
