Hi all. I understand these laser cut wood cab kits for the Accucraft C-16 are out of production. Does anyone have a spare they’d sell?

Thanks,

Dylan, the kits were made by Vance Bass, who is Mr. FHPB. He is still around, and I will send him an email on your behalf suggesting he read this.
Sorry, that train has left the station. I don’t even have a laser cutter available anymore, the wood had to be specially ordered, etc. Would it help to have the parts diagram from the kit instructions?

Dylan,
Don’t underestimate your own skills. You might try making this from styrene.
Bruce, I’m sure you’re right (and my drawings would help with that, too). But I wouldn’t put a styrene cab on a live steamer. The boiler is almost 400 F, and I think styrene melts well below that. Wood or brass is the way to go.

Too true! Did NOT realize that was a live steam loco - I’m melting! (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-embarassed.gif)
Hm, I thought I had one of these in my stuff, but it turns out to be something else.
Bob, that’s a Bronson-Tate Mason Bogie cab, I think. B-T also makes a cab for the 4-4-0 which is available from Jason at TTD.

That might be convertible to fit the C-16. Or, with Vance’s info, you could make your own.
I checked my C-16 files and found 2 photos of a wooden cab which appeared to be glued from parts on top of brass.
Thanks all. I’m not ready to take on building a cab from scratch because I have too many other projects going right now! I really like the idea of a wood cab simply because the doors don’t open on the brass one. And I’d be hesitant to hack that up.
