Accucraft/AML K4 parts & screws?

I have an AML K4 that is missing a few screws and has a couple of parts I cannot identify.

Can anyone tell me what these are and where they goes (did they fall off or break off)? I found them in the box the loco arrived in.

Next, the 2 screws that attach the locomotive Power Plug to the frame are missing. Can anyone give me a correct description of the screws and where I might find them locally? These are the screws that come up from the bottom of the loco.

Last, one of the screws holding the walkway (from the loco to the tender) fell off somewhere. Does anyone know where I might find a replacement?

I thought I would ask here before contacting Accucraft. It has been a long time since this loco was made and I have no previous experience with getting parts from Accucraft.

Thanks,

Jerry

The photos keep disappearing - even when I upload them to Freight Shed and copy from Freight Shed to the post.

Being that the pics did not load can not help. Guess you need to call Clif at Accuraft. Later RJD

Yeah, I posted the photos 3 or 4 times but they kept disappearing. I don’t know how to fix it. I probably should call Cliff. Thanks, Jerry

If you try to post them directly from your computer they will not work. You need to have them hosted on a website like Photobucket to have them post here, or put them in your freight shed and use them from there.

Jerry,

It is unlikely you will find them locally. Accucraft uses small metric screws, in the 1mm, 1.5mm and 2mm sizes.

Call or email Cliff. He has a box of bits and can probably find you something that will work.

Thanks Pete and RJ,

I will do it.

Jerry

OK Guys,

I did it and called Cliff.

Unfortunately the screws are costing $799.00

But that includes an 0-6-0 & four stock cars.

It’s Vincent’s fault. He made me do it.

Now, how the heck am I gonna get a Revolution & sound into it?

Jerry

I like to help when I can

Perhaps I should start a new topic but has anyone installed a Revolution in an AML USRA 0-6-0? That would really make it a great switcher IMHO.

Does Accucraft provide wiring diagrams?

I am inclined to think I should stick with track power as I usually do with steam Loco’s.

Jerry

For small metric screws I save all I can remove from old defunct laptop computers.

These have saved my butt many times and the cost was $0.00

Every accucraft I’ve owned came with a circuit diagram. None of them were completely correct.

The K4 was more difficult than the 0-6-0.

Hi Dan,

Laptops?

That is a source that I would never have thought of. I have a few old XP laptops sitting around the house (dead batteries). I’ve always worked on desktops but never took a laptop apart. I had planned to destroy the hard drives and either trash or donate the rest but I doubt there is much demand for an XP laptop without a hard drive or battery.

Perhaps it would make more sense to disassemble them.

Thanks for the idea,

Jerry

I got lucky. It turned out that the AML 0-6-0 came with 4 spare screws and a mini-nut driver.

The two longer screws were perfect for screwing down the K4’s wiring harness jack. A little Locktite and hopefully the problem will not happen again.

I have no idea what the screws were intended for but they were exactly what I needed.
