Accucraft air lines and glad hands

Guys,
What have ya’ll done to get these things from dragging the rail and looking more realistic.
jb

Put magnets on the glad hands so they stick together like real ones…like Bruce does…

Let 'em drag on the rail until they pull off & get lost ? ? ?

Just noticed a few days ago that several of mine are AWOL. After Saturdays big rain they are probably no where to be found.

It works rather nicely…

They’re easy to make and easy to hook up…

Are those Accucraft Couplers Bruce ?

Great idea!
Thanks, guys.
I was thinking of re-doing the things with a piece of bent brass rod inside them, but I’ll try the magnets.
Where do you get tiny magnets?

John,

The latest Garden Railways has an article that Bruce wrote on this very subject.

I bought mine at Amazing Magnets, but there are many sources. From what I’ve read a magnet size of 1/8" dia 1/16" thick seems to work best. I’ve yet to install mine.

For flexibility I believe they have been using black surgical tubing in place of the tubing that comes stock with the cars.

Yea, Jon, I believe Bruce does use the Accucraft coupler.

Yes, those are Accucraft couplers. The magnets are from http://www.kjmagnetics.com/ - they have a neat selection. I get the black surgical tubing from http://www.mcmaster.com/
