Yes, I transferred them to photobucket.
I have a ton of pic’s on their, plus I can post them on any forum without issue.
Cost me $2.99 a month because I finally succeeded the free account that they give you after 10 years!.

That may happen to me shortly…
Nice photos and videos guys! I’ve spent plenty of time on the Strasburg RR over the years. It is like you went back in time, traveling by steam and watching the Amish farmers plow their fields with horses.
The museum is cool, but what about the Choo Choo Barn? Been going there since I was a kid, and took my kids some 20 years ago!

The Choo Choo barn was closed, not sure if it was because it is not open on Saturday(?) or maybe not open for the season(?) but it was closed while we were there.
Sorry, I stand corrected…
It was open, I just looked at the picture I had taken of it and they had there OPEN flag waiving…
Must have opened later in the day because we took the picture when we were headed to Amish country around 3pm.
Vinny,
The Choo Choo Barn website says they are open 7 days a week 10AM- 5PM. If you couldn’t get in, it must be because they saw you coming and locked the doors!
Rooster was in there holding the doorknob closed!

I guess I am just used to everything being open at 8am!

There were a lot of them on Saturday…
Not only are there some top notch modelers on this site they are darn good with a camera too!!
Thanks Ken and Ralph for posting pics
Ken and Ralph beat me to the railroad picture posting so I’ll concentrate more on the human element. It seems whenever Ralph gets within sight of an operating steam engine he begins to grin uncontrollably…

A 6 Horsepower Amish Plow…
Jon, That’s a great shot of the 475.
And that’s no plow, it’s an Amish Hot Rod
I had a great time too. Glad we made the trip

It was a lot windier yesterday and colder then crap…
Good pictures guys. Wish I was able to join yas.
Jon and all,
Looks like you guys were enjoying yourselves at Strasburg!
Jon: all of the PRR steam engines had their jacketing removed for asbestos abatement in the early 2000s. I agree, they don’t look very good. However, from what I understand, removing jacketing actually helps prevent further damage to the boiler plate as there is not as much place for moisture to build up. The RRMofPA is currently doing a major cosmetic restoration on PRR 460. I expect that each of the large PRR locomotives will get a similar job once 460 is completed.
The big problem they face, however, is where to put the engines when done. The museum has approved designs for a new roundhouse to be constructed at the site. I guess they’re at the waiting for funding stage of the game. I expect that once the roundhouse is complete, they’ll have a place to put the restored locomotives. I wonder what they’ll do with 757, the NKP berk that doesn’t quite fit the rest of the collection.
Those boxcars look like they were either modified by the museum for tool storage or are some sort of early automobile loading cars. But removing the strength from the end by installing roll up doors seems to make that more unlikely.
Thanks Mark -
Perhaps NKP 475 will be used some day in a trade deal for more a more relevant artifact. I’d love to see EBT SG #6 come home to PA for a cosmetic restoration.
The roundhouse is supposed to start construction in 2015 according to the displays at the museum. Tracks and turntable are in place now.
A wonderful collection of videos and pics guys. I have enjoyed looking at them.
