A video of my 2 favorite past times

Here is a video I finally had some time to string together. (first time using movie maker so it took a bit of doing) The video features my 2 favorite past times trains and a fun car that I built nearly 14 years ago. The little Hartland Mack has been modified just a bit as you will see.

Enjoy but watch out it’s FAST !

So how many scale MPH was the Cobra/Mack doin ?
And why didn’t we get to see the other Cobra spin out =(
Ralph

Cool. Looks like you have a nice size layout. I think this is the first time seeing the layout. Very nice.

Ha the Cobra doesn’t spin out in fact not to offend any grandmas out there but I tend to drive it like a granny. I know where is the fun in that but the last thing I want is a ticket for doing something stupid or worse a crash. It’s fun just to know what the car is capable of and respectable to know it is beyond my skill.
I think the Mack was doing about 80mph! I recently built a odometer car so next chance I get I will have to hook it up and test the top end !
I do have a handful of videos featuring normal trains chugging along the main and they always have a purpose, one hauled leaves down back, another brought firewood up to the house and yet another brought veggies from the garden. Always a fun time on the RR&DPRR.
Thanks guys

Shouldn’t there be a Caution for “debris on the track”.
I like the little roll bar.

Hey Todd nice video. I was starting to get car sick there with all those sharp turns. I like the layout, but I really love the Cobra. I’m a Ford man from way back. I use to have a 65 Mustang that was fixed up for road racing. It was fun racing around on the track passing all those vettes. So what year is your Cobra.

Chuck

Hello Race fans
I did a test with the cobra/mack pulling the odometer car and if I have the scaled down settings right it was doing 72mph on the back stretch. I thought it looked faster than that. The Cobra is a Factory Five replica that I built back in 1998-2000 BT. BT is before trains. I have a EFI 302 in it with a 5 speed drivetrain straight out of a 1990 mustang LX. The car is much like my RR I didn’t build it to win any races or shows but just to have fun. Even after all these years and now what is literally thousands of these cars on the road around the world I still get smiles and thumbs up when I drive it around.
Happy RRing

Todd I think you need to add a wing on the rear to give it better aerodynamics. A larger splitter on the nose couldn’t hurt either. While you may have had the Shelby Cobra in mind when you built it, what I see is more akin to a Can Am / American Le Mans type racer. Ultra fun bash either way

Maybe a nitro booster

I think we just whitnessed the begining of a new terror ammusement park ride.
We could call it terrior engineere or maybe crazed engineere

Funny a wing on the rear was mentioned, years ago I crossed a bobber caboose with a RC car and I put a wing on that. Development stopped on that build when it was tested and found that it was so fast it wouldn’t stay on the tracks. My idea was to have a RC caboose run like a slot car and eventually build 2 that could race against each other. Maybe that insane build should be revisited?

It’s getting to be that time of year again… whereas the Cobra Mack has been out and about tearing up the rails, the real Cobra is still in the garage waiting for a decent day to go for a cruise.
I have been seeing more and more custom cars on the road so it won’t be long before the car show cruise nights start up.
Maybe I should bring the Cobra Mack and see if there are any local fellow car/train NUTZ out there??
Todd

If you ran on theCCRy that fast you would be sent down to the shop to wipe the bearings and no other job! You need to go back to slot cars!!

Paul
P.S. if you rolled it on thelower part of the SVRR, you would be rebuilding the Mack! It’s a 5 foot drop!
