A Small Steam-Up in Rocky Mount, VA

Four live steam enthusiasts had a steam-up/battery meet at Steve King’s layout in Rocky Mount, VA today. We did not wear masks, but did socially distance during our time on the outdoor layout. It was so nice to get to run some equipment.

While preparations were made for steaming, my Piko Clean Machine (sans cleaning pads) ran some laps over the layout. It’s about 400 feet of mainline loop.

Here is the little train on another spot along the mainline. The car is a three-dimensional pun. It is a TIN CUP car - the perfect companion for TIN PLATE equipment.

Mike’s Emma hustles a short train around the layout.

My Dora bustles along with a short train.

George’s Emma rolls through with an empty aggregates train.

My Roundhouse ALCO storms by with a short freight.

Steve’s Tasmanian Beyer-Garrett is still a work in progress, but it was able to do some steaming.

Thanks for looking. We had a wonderful time with our little dragons!

Best wishes, David Meashey

P.S. Forgot to mention that Steve said we may try for another steam-up in early December if the weather stays mild. (I don’t mind if it gets cool - better steam plumes!)

Looks like you had a fabulous day with sun and short sleeves. A nice variety in the locos running and a lovely layout.
