Large Scale Central

A Simulated Caboose Gazeebo

It’s been a while, but we did finally get a roof decision made, and finally installed…

Below is a Pic from Friday night. The short left section is mostly covered with roofing, the cupola and right side is still only covered in the sub-layment:

Andy (Jane),

Thanks for adding an update. I’ve been eagerly awaiting…it’s looking really really good.

It sure looks like a great place to hang out.

Nice…and different …man-cave…

The roof looks great.

Thanks guys…

Stan, the trucks got confiscated for freight duty, it’ll hafta stay on blocks…

Looks real good dad! Ok I lied it’s ugly!

Ric wanted to know what your planning on doing inside the cabzeebo ?

Andy,

Funny you should post your update today. Yesterday I spent a good part of the day doing the biggest decal job yet. It was actually a stencil job. I’ve made a new friend recently, he just bought one of the DT&I wooden cabooses and is restoring it, so I thought since I made the decals for my 1/29 and 1/8 version of the same caboose I thought I’d volunteer to make full size stencils for his project. What a job that was but after applying paint using them yesterday it was very satisfying to see the caboose and his response (quite grateful).

Enjoy,

Caboose 96

Looks good, Brian…

The guy who put my roof on, also works with metals… He’s looking stuff up noe, to givr me a quote on siding the caboose…

I want a flat metal siding, attached with round headed screws, so that it will looks like rivets… Caboose will stay with, but the lettering with be dark blue.

Andy nice looking hover craft!

Looks great Andy

Are you putting seats in the cupla so you can set up there and relax.

Allen, yes… Once I get to working on the inside…

The roof does look as good, in person.

Allen, don’t be holding your breath for when this will get done. There is a whole lot of things to get done around the Bluestone Southern. Trust me, there is a lot of BS.

Friday & Saturday, have been getting the metal siding installed… The corners and cupola and east end, still need to be completed… Cupola ends without the windows will be finished at a later date… Monday, the east end and north/south siddes of the cupola should be completed…

Below are some pictures:

Hopefully, in the above picture, you can see the rivets (screws). Plans are to add more rivets between the ones installed… Still trying to determine how many more to install between the existing rivets… 2 would put them at every 4 inches, 3 would put them at every 3 inches…

Andy, was the metal pre-finished or did you paint it?

Dan, it is pre-finished… 23 guage, I do believe…

Looks great Dad!

Maybe some rivet trim around the windows and a band down the middle ?
