The true meaning of Memorial day has been corrupted. As a Navy vet, I still remember the true meaning, and salute my fallen comrades. From Wikipedia…

"Memorial Day is a US federal holiday wherein the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces are remembered. The holiday, which is celebrated every year on the final Monday of May, was formerly known as Decoration Day and originated after the American Civil War to commemorate the Union and Confederate soldiers who died in the Civil War. By the 20th century, Memorial Day had been extended to honor all Americans who have died while in the military service. It typically marks the start of the summer vacation season, while Labor Day marks its end."

Very moving little movie.

Here in UK we do nothing like that.

Hardly anybody gives a s**t about us, unless they live near the RAF base where our dead used to come home - a little town called Wootton Bassett, now called Royal Wootten Bassett.

I’m still in two minds why they did all that showy stuff for - the dead or the living. It never happened anywhere else in UK that I know of.

'sides, it is not permitted to wear your uniform after you’ve left the services here.

I will say the following to all of you who have served in the Armed Forces of your home land. thank you. I did my time and was lucky, didn’t have to go some place where they were shooting at me! Al though I had a Captain (Navy) who tried to get us called up.
