A reconnection

Don Gage and I first met in 2003 at the GR Convention in Sacramento and immediately hit it off because of our love for logging modeling.

We exchanged information, pictures and ideas for many years but slowly drifted apart and eventually lost contact.

Much to my surprise i got an email a couple months back from him and found out he now lives on the Oregon Coast abut 2 hours from me.

So today he drove over for a visit and we had a great time.

He brought a couple of his models along to show and run on the RR.
A couple of pictures.

First off is the under construction loading dock crane, all battery and RC controls, the detail part I loved was he had altered the truck by adding coil springs on the rear so when the crate is sat on the truck it squats and when lifted off it raises back up just like the real deal.

Next was a mining loco all scratch and 3D printed from blue prints. I don’t remember the historic details of this one but it sure is an unusual beauty.

This one I remember from the convention in 2003, a scratch built 2 cylinder T boiler Shay. Don was part of the Del Oro modular group way back in the day and had some fantastic models on his modules.

I enjoyed catching up and sharing project ideas as well Rick. I was also very interested to hear about your history living in logging camps. Amazing!
