People live in the old station as well. I considered buying it when it went up for sale a few years ago. There is a small community right along side the tracks that grew up when this was a very active steam line. The track became the New Haven’s Berkshire division. Freight traffic pretty much dried up when the Poughkeepsie railroad bridge burned in the 70’s severing the New Haven’s connection to the West. The track has now reverted back to the original name under the new Housatonic Railroad Co. and once again sees a daily freight in each direction.

Those are tight quarters and my wife would holler and moan every time a train went by but I would love it. Here on the Monterey Peninsula ((CA) in Pacific Grove where Monterey Bay starts if you are coming from the south the point there is called Lover’s Point and just a dog leg from the ocean there is an old mobile home park. The tracks run right through it and every time I see that I just fall apart. Some years ago though they (SP) stopped rail service to the Monterey Peninsula and now it’s moot. Wish I had a picture to post of it.

Beeeeoootiful paint job on that A + B. Please tell us more about it!!! Best graders tac www.ovgrs.og

Tac.

It’s a remake of the Old ““New Haven”” paint scheme… The commuter services in and around New York City have some of the power units painted in the old New Haven scheme…
New Haven used to operate in southern New England, and New York, if I remember correctly…

I’m not an expert, only trying to answer your question about some information…

Would that be the “Old Haven” paint scheme?

That little yellow house is really nice, it would make a great model.

“Can I go outside?”

“Sure dear, just watch for the train.”

Rudolph - Excuse us while we detour your thread. Hope you don’t mind. It’s what we do best here at LSC

Terry - Andy has it just about right. These are Connecticut Department of Transportation owned FL-9 units operated by Metro North, a commuter railroad in NY City. As a tribute to the former owners of the right-of-way they are painted in the “McGuiness” New Haven paint scheme. Metro North did at one time also operate a few painted in NY Central L"Lightning Stripe" scheme in NY State. The occasion was the Farewell to FL-9 Excursion run over rare passenger millage from Danbury to North Canaan, Connecticut several years back just before the units were retired. They were freshly painted for the occasion. This photo taken on the same excursion a few miles south…
