A Novel Idea

Let’s talk about Trains…

I just recently converted a Bachmann 45 tonner to Battery, I need to decide on which coupling system to use to mate AMS?scratch cars, and my engines…

I have a new AMS Stock car built as a Trail Car, RCS-EVO2, and 18v battery onboard…

I am usuing a Futaba Pistol Grip control-it works well…

Yesterday work began on my Rogers 2-4-2 to convert to battery, Fn3, and make it a 2-4-2T…
I plan on making it a wood cab also…

I am awaiting a Banta Kit to upsize my Annie-where is a good place to buy new domes?

I have began construction on the water feature and hope to start laying track before SELCTS…

that should get us started…
Cale

For couplers?

Which do you have the most of and like best?

Cale, I purchased some domes from Caboose Hobbies. They’re Accucraft, and they fit well on a 3" boiler.

I’m using Acccraft couplers on all my new rolling stock. I put everything in the locomotive or tender- battery and RCS. I plan on operating, so a trail car does not work for me. I’m reworking my layout, so no track down right now. I WILL have a track running up to my stone mill this time!

I really like your stone mill, Bruce! Super work!

Tom:

This is the Genesis Moment…I personally like the look of Link/Pin. Not really ready to knock the coupler off of the AMS Car though…unless it can be done with little modification.

Bruce:

Thanks on the Domes, did you build that plate between the eng/tender-nice!
I like the idea of self contained Batt/RC(S), but due to budget constraints, the trail car is it for now…All engines will have to share for a while…

and that is a beaut of a bldg!

thx thus far!

Accucraft or Kadee will work. Kadee makes a set (with instructions, etc.) specifically for it, and the AMS couplers can be installed relatively easily as well following TOC’s procedure. My #7145 has AMS/Accucraft couplers, and my #10 and #2 will likely follow suit.

Hey Bruce,

Can you give me the wall dimensions of your Mill ? I have stoneworks stone and Wheel and am ready to build one. Trying to figure out if my case of stone is enough. Did you have enough stone for yours ?

Thanks,

Bryan,
The walls are 15w x 14h. As I recall, that’s because I was using the Perfic panels for the roof - and they’re 16" square. The ends are 11 1/2" w and 21 at the peak. I believe I ordered 2 “pallets” of stone from them…and have just a little left over.

Cale,
That plate is just some Plastruct diamond pattern styrene.

Thanks Bruce !

Cale,

What do you mean by 2-4-2T…?

I converted my Rogers to battery w/trail tender. I am pondering the further conversion to a Forney so it would be self contained. Is that what you are talking about?

President Carter,

I am planning on adding a “bunker” if you will…I hadn’t considered making it a forney…Chris Walas has some info on his site about a Prototype Rogers Forney.

The bunker will make my Rogers look like Thomas or Percy. It will not be self contained-but that Forney idea is a good 1!
