A nifty find

Found this at the swap shop at the transfer station today. A bit of googling shows it’s a Unimat 1 Classic 6-in-1. Its missing a bunch of parts, and I don’t even know if it runs yet, it didn’t have its wall wart with it…

EDIT: Found a 12v wall wart and it powers on. All the threaded bits need a good cleaning and some oil but everything moves.

I wasnt really expecting machine threads…

BOB… You now have a lathe… in theory, you can just cut yourself a new set of threads…

First… go to “Little Machine Shop” 's site and look into this:

https://littlemachineshop.com/products/product_view.php?ProductID=6474&category=

That will start you cutting…

EDIT: do a OXA search on Amazon for other options and pricing…

Anything works in theory…

Dave, to cut threads with a lathe, you need a powered feed and a gear box to match the feed with the rotation. Bob could use acorn dies mounted, if the lathe was a little larger.

Yes I’m well aware of the need for power feed… I was trying to get him thinking outside the box and make that usable for the basic stuff… Plus or minus seven hundred and fifty thousands…

If I can cobble together a tool post, this thing might be neat for turning plastic or wood.
