A New video featuring my Schnabel carrier and a new transformer load

Here is a new video that shows the carriers I made to transport my Schnabel car ends to the track. It also shows how the loading deck is attached and a new Transformer load is connected . I used wood, plexiglass and a bit of 3D printing to make the transformer.

And I’m still lost in the fact that this was a 30 day MIK build

I could have used 40 days. I have been improving on it since the end of the challenge including building the 2 loads for it.

Did I miss what the pin in the middle does? I am so gobsmacked as to the awesomeness of that car!
Is there a definite A and B end to it , or would it really matter???
So very impressive

The pin in the middle keeps the lifting arms rigid and from shifting while be carried to the track. I did design the end supports on the carriers to fit in between the lifting arm ends so they would not move much. The pins are just more insurance.

The real deal does mark the units A and B and I will do that in the future. I did mark the pieces when I was building it because as much as I tried to keep them exact they could be off a fraction so the A front truck might be off if it was put on the B frame.
Overall I do not think it matters. There is no real front or rear.

The carriers are excellent Todd, and the ramp action is so smooth… fantastic work!

BD, do we have enough tables reserved for the DnB??

Thanks Cliff.
I borrowed the ramp from my Beyer Garratt tote and it works for this too so why make another?

You stole the words right out of my mouth David.

My wife says she was a train widow that month. I put a lot of hours into the build, half of which was sitting their trying to figure out how I was going to make something work. Once a decision was made it was still at times, one step forward and 2 back. :joy:
