A New take on Thomas

So, I really wanted a Thomas Train for the boys to run outside…and since they haven’t been produced in many years, I hear they aren’t the most reliable trains ever made, and they cost a “ton”…I thought I’d create “the almost next best thing”… A New take on Thomas… HLW had a few Clear Macks for $20…a STEAL…and now they are sold out! DANG!

they also have some “Republican” cars left over from the Dole days…

These go for about $15. each-Nice bashing material…tough as to be expected from HLW as well! A little paint and letters and this is what we finish up with!

Del @ G-Scale Graphics did the lettering for me on this project! The Blue on Thomas is ‘off’ but it was the closest I could find. here they are together…

The Color for “Annie” is spot on…tried my best to make it all look “close”…the Boys Love it! I presented to my Middle Boy on Saturday the 17th, his birthday-2 years old! Here is Ian “Luke” watching ThommyMack run the Main

I figured that a ‘tough train’ like another Mack they could play with would extend the life of the others in the Roundhouse (dad’s trains)! My eldest will be 4 in July…he wants his Mack painted in “Daylight Colors”…now that should be interesting! The TommyMack is powered by 9.6v worth of NiMH wired to a DPDT switch and will operate in Fwd and Rev accordingly…It pulls nicely, and at a nice pace. Thanks for looking! cale Many thanks to Dave Goodson, for helping me with the wiring and charging! And Del for a great product!

Ingenious imagineering, and nice results. As for the color, well, some beancounting flunktionary ordered economies in the paint shop, so the foreman, under protest, thinned the blue right down. (There were plenty of real-world instances of this). And what the heck, it still looks good. Congratulations.

Chris, your boys are going to have really nice trains of their own to play with and get hours and hours of pleasure doing so. It’s great…and I’m dying to see the other Tommy Mac in Daylight colors!

Nice job…you could always call it Tommy, or if he swears all the time, Terrance, after his Australian TV counterpart.

Vic…while I was building I thought of you and the Rep cars…oh what he come up with there…only $15…each
