A new/old window idea

I’ve used this method before but added caulk instead of paint. Standard. plexi 0.091 from HD. Run it across the hobby size table saw to cut groves and then paint. Small window is black acrylic paint. After it dries I polish it with a scotch pad to remove paint from the panes. Makes the window a lot less clear but I never do interiors and inside light comes thru fine. The big window is the new test… schmeared it with white latex caulk and after it dried for a couple of hours I rubbed the the panes with my thump to clean off the caulk. The point is… I’ve seen a lot of steel framed windows in homes and factories that have frame members that are only about 1" wide and perhaps 3/16" thick on the outside… that’s 0.006" thick in 1:29…what’s that ?..the thickness of paint? Going to use this for my next factory. Anyway… here’s the pic

seems a good idea to me.

Larry, what a great idea. I was kinda thinking along those lines (scribing and/or painting on clear acrylic and such), but you proved it can be done. Of course, I don’t have a suitable saw–yet–but ya never know what Santa might bring. And speaking of industrial windows, my next project will have five of 'em, but they should be easy to make as the panes are fairly large–maybe 18 x 24 inches.
