Looking good Ken. You got me hooked on the coroplast. It is so much easier to work with.

I think it may take me all winter to figure out all the different angles on the roof, so one little shortcut isn’t going to hurt.

Don’t thank me, thank Jon. He’s the one that was supplying all this stuff that they were throwing away from the sign shop he works for. I had never even heard of the stuff till Jon showed up at the train show with a whole trunk load of the stuff. And I think it was either Bruce or Rooster that was using it before I was. I don’t usually come up with new ideas, I just steal them…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

True I have to give Bruce credit as well. Jon gave me a sheet of it last time I saw him. Imight need more for my grist mill project next. Cough cough Jon…

I didn’t know Rooster actually built buildings. That’s new news to me…

Guys, I just saw that the local craft store, Pat Catan’s, sells coroplast now. I am not sure I would spend what they are charging for it, but in a pinch, it is a source.

Ill have to check my local craft stores. I only have Ac Moore and Michael’s. I know I can get the sign sizes at Lowes and most big box stores.

I was sizing up a couple of post election signs when I heard on the news that only those who put them out can pick them up in Az. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-innocent.gif)I passed.

John

Shawn, I haven’t seen it at my local Lowe’s, but I did buy a sheet at the FedEx/Kinko’s a few years back. The company I work for also makes coroplast signs. I will have to see if they have any off cuts or scraps when I go to the main office in 2 weeks.

@ = at Ken…Shawn has the resources right under his nose “butt” he is too busy playin on the internet.

It does appear that Maynard may have him hooked up in 2 weeks.

Same in Washington, but they must be picked up by the campaign the day after the election. If the city or county has to clean them up, there will be a charge and fine for picking up the trash. I figure I’m good to go, the day after the election.

My best score is to go to the county conventions. “I promise to put them out in my yard.”. I usually can get as many as I can carry.

I think we’re getting somewhere, exactly where I have no idea…

Fiddlin with the roof.

Looking spiffy, Ken… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Shut up Rooster

John, what I heard is the politicians have a week or 2 to get them picked up. So after a few days I figured it was my helping the public and the politicians out by grabbing them, there are 2 still at a major corner near me, they will be gone tonight. And I have a lot of new(to me) pieces of rebar, some of it pretty thick that came with the signs. Not sure what it can be used for, but something will show up. Ken are you using the bath edging on corners or something else??

I use the Plastruct 5/16" angle on the corners of the building and the roof edges.

https://plastruct.com/shop/structural-shapes/90007-a-10/

Most of the signs around here turned out to be the bags over a frame, so I’ve had to buy the Coroplast from Lowe’s

They had it 2’x3’ and 4’x4’ sheets, plus smaller signs.

Looks good Ken. Maybe two or three more dormers to add interest to the roof line (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

I think I’ll stick with the ones already there, Dave. …(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Thank goodness for duct tape…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

A lotta cuttin, fittin, cuttin some more, fittin again goin on with this thing.

Still got a bit of tweaking to do on the roof, and figuring out how to hold it together without all the tape…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Will you be doing the historically correct U channel gutters or are you going to cheat and use the new K channel with 4" round downspouts. In copper of course.

Yeah, right!..(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

what do you do to prep the coro for paint? I am looking to model a concrete commercial building and am wondering if just spray painting primer then color on the coroplast will work? Thanks everyone has pointed to you as the coro guru, so thanks for your post and answers to all my questions

Looking good!

The coro guru?, I don’t know about that. I like it cause it’s easy to work with.

I don’t really paint the coro, I glue a veneer over it then paint the veneer. And I don’t do anything to the coro, just use Goop to fasten the veneer to it.

They do make a thicker coroplast than what I use. Mine’s about a 1/8" thickness, they do have a 3/8" thickness. That may work better for you as a stand alone wall.
