Something tells me all structures from hence forth will have a simple gable roof.
Depot looks great Ken, nice work.

Why?
Cross gables with 10/2 pitch and compound corners are coming back into style.

All the cool kids are doing the 10/2 pitch.
Thanks for the info on the soldering station. I have been looking for a good one for my workbench. I have a plain old corded one I got from Radio Shack many moons ago and I have a butane powered iron/torch for those times when I’m not near an electrical outlet. I’ll look at the SMD.
Jeez Ken
I step away to work on my challenge project and you make huge gains. That is turning out great. I agree your with in close reach of the high bar

Could have just used a piece of PVC crown/cove molding. I was hoping you were gonna get out a blow torch !
I’m gonna run up to Lowes today to see what they have in the Trimplank section.
Thought I’d try the heat gun first before I pulled out the heavy artillery…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)
Trial fit:
You can see the block behind the roof section for attaching it to the wall:
This may work…
Looks good to me but I’m not fussy

Not at all.
Nice work Ken. I like the curving roof line.
Now, hit that roof with the heat gun on stun, to lock in that curve.
Coming right along Ken. The roof adds a good bit of interest. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)
Working on the porch roofs and setting up placement of the chimneys.
The corners of the roofs are what’s going to take some thought. And matching it up with the adjoining roof lines.
The more I get into this the more I’m like “What was I thinkin?”…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)
It’ll all be worth it when it’s done!
Work through it Ken. That is a detail you will need to get right. Would it, could it, be a angled section at a 45? I am spit balling compound angles are a handicap withe me so it may not work.
What I want to do, Devon, is attach the porch roofs and then cut a 45 to fit in the corners. then build up that part of the roof from there. That will give me something to support the corner angles. …hopefully…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)
Can you say compound miter!
No, But I can say cut it with this angle and that angle at the same time… Does that count?
The roof wasn’t wide enough to cut a 45 on both sides, so I’m giving this a shot. Build both roofs out from the existing ones, then tie them together. Now whether I want the whole porch roof tied together as one piece is another dilemma.
I think I got this thing licked…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)
And I might even get it done before the end of April…
Lookin’ good, Ken.
