Cobbled this up last weekend. It isn’t completely finished yet, but I want a pic between rain storms. 1:20.3 roughly a 25 footer.
Wow very cool work there
Oh yus…I like that!
Nice
John; I like the idea of the tool retaining rack along one side of the car. Very convenient for the MOW crew! That’s a beautiful car. Side-mounting the tools is a lot more efficient than having a big tool bin, but way back in 1986 I didn’t know any better. I’ll keep your idea filed away for when I want to build another car.

Awesome collections of tools you guys have picked up.
I like both your cars. But I’m a wrecker, I guess, because I’d weather 'em.
It’s always hard for me to do, but afterwards I’m always glad I did!
John Le Forestier;
Mine is still clean because it’s supposed to be just “ex-shop” after a rebuild. You may notice that the toolbin is a little crooked. That’s because the shop force found some dry-rotted boards at the right-front corner of the bin. Due to the press of time, they decided to cut away the dry-rot and leave the bin and its lid somewhat crooked.
The tools are from an assortment of sources: Preiser, Trackside Details, Wimmer, and Ozark. I don’t think Wimmer are sold in North America any more, but they used to make metal figures and details. I used two Wimmer seated figures and a pewter conductor figure (can’t remember the brand) over the power truck on my Delton Doozie railbus to give it enough “OOMPH” for 3% grades.
Also I don’t weather a lot because I had to clean 1:1 locomotives at the W,K&S tourist railroad, where I served as a volunteer locomotive engineer and fireman. After having to clean the big stuff, I really don’t like to slop up my toys.
Yours,
David Meashey
Wonderful lil caboose…
Watch out Shawn doesn’t see that…he’ll be wanting one too…
That’s really nice, jb.
Very well done John!!!
Thanks Guys!
Weathering is a comin’.
All my stuff gets weathered or made to look used.
I still have some work to do on it.

Leave it out in this rain for the next week. That will weather it nicely.
Very cool John…but you better put that thing in a bunker during tornado season!!

John I really like that. The tool rack is a great idea. Might have to steel (or is it steal) that Idea.
Both are very nice!

Shawn, It’s steal that idea.
Steel is much harder and might rust.
If I had the time, you know how busy I am.
I would build one of those, or a likeness there of.
I like the idea…
