A little bit of Goose work

My Accucraft Goose #7 has not been operating for some time. first i had a gear split in the drive traingoose gear i had modeled and printed in the durable resin i had at the time. originally this gear was injection molded to the shaft. notice the flat section in the middle. although this was several years ago it is still standing up. next i had a receiver failure that got repaired, but i never got back to reinstalling. at some point I decided to replace the incandescent bulbs with LED’s. i am trying to complete the process. along the way i determined that at least one side of the freight body needed to be repainted as the decals were apparently never clear coated from the factory , and were pealing off the body. unable to find a good match for the aluminum paint on the model i decided to repaint the whole thing. i have a small sand blast booth and was able to clean up the body and prime.

After that i sprayed the black areas around the perimeter, as they needed to be masked. for masking i cut the various pieces i needed on my silhouette studio vinyl cutter. i needed to be done this way as there is a rivet line all around the perimeter that would have made it difficult to mask.

here is it current status. once i had masked i used a spray bomb of aluminum paint.i had carefully measured and reproduced the lettering details in cad, and subsequently cut on my vinyl cutter. they were applied after the aluminum paint. i have started reassembly but still have more wiring to finish up. you will note in the second photo that the vent stack is missing. i am going to print this in plastic, and use it to mount the antenna for the Airwire receiver. hopefully i can finish up in the next couple of weeks and take out for a test run.
