A friend of mine went to the Grafton, MA flea market and when leaving saw a LGB train set at a table and for only $15.
It was a broken 0-4-0 engine (most likely the 20232) and non powered tender plus a beat up tank car and caboose all 4 axle equipment.
He hesitated for 10 minutes and bought it. then the seller asked if he would also like the power pack the LGB 1 amp 50081 no charge.
I let my friend know the power pack alone was a bargain at $15.
Nice! I love finding a good deal at a yard sale or consignment shop. Occasionally find Bachmann freight cars the same way.

Great find your friend made. I know nothing of prices but that seems like it would be worth it in spare parts alone if need be.
no kidding, I would love to find a one of those engines that cheap, let alone the rest of it. Thats my kind of prices. Mike
I bought a Big Bird set at a yard sale for $5. The battery powered engine was crap, the plastic track is in a box somewhere, but the 2 cars work out great as mine cars. I put the small Bachamnn wheels under then, and Kadee couplers, and painted them. They look so cute behind an LGB Porter. I was looking for more of those cars, but I picked up some of the LGB equivalent on an on-line action.
Its nice to find bargains like that. I keep looking, but I seldom find anything. Well, any trains.

I visited my friend and here is what he got for the $15 all LGB White pass made in 2002:
20230 2-4-0 engine #21, works great but had been dropped and missing the pony truck, cowcatcher and front light.
Matching tender for the engine, no sound
4 axle tank car missing just the fill cap on top
Caboose 4 axle no roof, end rails all broken off.
1 amp 50081 power pack.
This must have been a LGB set originally.
Well at the very least he has a workable power pack and a motor block for a bash project for $15.00 bucks. That’s how my mind works. Great deal.
