I am going to the ECLS show in York and want to know if anyone can recommend a good diner, preferable not a national chain,in York. With me quality of food will trump ambiance anyday! Any suggestions from the York veterans?
There was a great Diner in york, we have never eaten anywhere else in the 5-6 yrs I have gone to York, The ““Starlight”” Diner…
However, when we left last year, the staff told us, the diner had been sold, to a New York Company… So, we are wondering if it’s still the same with great food and service, or has it changed for the worse???
Dave,
Starlight is still there after remodeling and if judged by patroage just as good as before.
Round the clock is another that has heavy patronage
Hope this helps
Dave
One of the best things to do is sit at that first booth with your back to the desserts and have a guy with a sweet tooth sit across from you looking at the carousel of pastry as he tries to order off the menu. Best entertainment in town.
Are you talking about me again? I remember sitting in that position across from you at least once
You did not come to mind when writing that decsription. However, this is one of those, if the shoe fits. Skip MacEwen of our club has a passion for deserts and we purposely take all the seats, especially if we get the 8 person booth right in front of the display case, so that he sits there trying to eat his meal while staring at the revolving carousel. He literally struggles through the meal. Its just the games we play. My Mom tried to teach me to be nicer, but this life stuff is soooo much fun.
Ric,
Shame on you for torturing good ole Skip. He’s a great fellow. But I sure can picture him being distracted by that fabulous desert case. Say “Hi” for me when you see him.
