A gamble and won ! IN LAS VEGAS

Now what? We made a low ball bid on a house in Las Vegas not too far from where we last lived in Las Vegas.
It was a really low bid, I mean a real down low bid and the bank accepted it ! just didn’t think it would fly but now we are getting ready to move back next month.

Oh ya, the house is three years old and over 2000 sq ft on an extra large lot. The price we bid, 89,000 .
We sold the old house in lost wages that was a lot older but the same size for 300,000 …My how times have changed.

Care to buy a big house in Ore-Gun ? It’s nice here in the Portland area if you don’t mind the weather.

Soon to be the old fardt in LV

Vegas has better weather for trains.

Congrads on getting the house. that is what is called a GOOD BUY.

Geoff

I have visions of a table top layout somewhat like the one I had but alas, I gave it away before this came up. Bummer.
Oh well, I can built another all steel one.

Cheers, TOF in limbo

Wow thats a great price, LV is really been hit in the gut real estate wise, hope you can sell the Portland house for a good profit, will sure help with the retirement. With all the utter state-political bs going on down here I’d love to move to Portland but I’d never find a job in this garbageconomy.

Victor

We kind of break even as the market went up and down here and we bought it when it was on the way up and now it has dropped back down but we will be happy to come out even or there abouts.

Buy high and sell low but make it up in volume…

Oh ya, there are many more deals to be made in Vegas if anyone is interested? Only drawback, in most cases, you will need all cash to get them as they don’t take too kindly to financing a mortgage on the same property.

Hey it’s the best gamble in town as the cost of buying some land plus putting up a house, costs way more than double what we paid.

I saw some going for less than $50k which were damaged by the past owners and if you are a fixer upper, well there you are. Investors are usually buying the ones that don’t need much to move them along.

Our house is now on the market and can viewed on line oregon mls 9038212 … Trains not included !

Sweet deal.
I guess Ore-Gun is a little too quiet for the Old Fardt.
Good luck.
Ralph

Well, the oldfardt has a new home here in Lost Wages. I have to wait a couple months for the resurrection of the table top outdoor layout as 100 degrees makes one tend to stay inside and I’m in no hurry.

Pictures will be coming as time permits.

Are you going to supplement your income at the Casinos?

HJ

Good one ! Actually I worked at the casinos many years ago fixing or repairing slot machines. Have no interest in gambling but we do go to the buffets which are quite fantastic to say the least.

Cheers,

The oldfardt in Lost Wages

Darryl,

You know how to fix slot machines? That’s a very good start to make piles of money! Assured winnings, who could ask for more?

You bettcha I fixed or repaired slot machines but since the house was paying me, but not for my or the customers benefit. Actually most casinos are very honest and are happy with the percentages which can range from 4 to 16 percent kept for every dollar run through them. Other places may take a little more.

Time for a sip of the suds, Guinness Stout for me.

Very sharp, HJ – Regarding above: “Are you going to supplement your income at the Casinos?”
Love it.

Your sense of humor is never a gamble. There’s always a slot for it. To bet on it not paying off is sense-less.

Gulp.

I guess it figures !

The old location for St Aubins train store was just 5 blocks from my new home… Now I’ll get to drive over towards the airport to take a look at the goodies. Oh well, it still is a good store as the rest of the local trains stores just about sell at full retail prices.

Cheers, the oldfardt in Lost Wages.

Thank you Wendell,

And here’s an old chestnut: A German tells a Swiss that the Swiss have no humour, to which the Swiss replies “I don’t find that at all funny.”

Of course it is funnier when done with the appropriate accent and the required dose of indignation in the Swiss’ voice, but the true oxymoron is the fact that the Germans are such a humorous bunch. hehehe
