As mentioned in the video section some of the mucky-mucks at the railways get a bit funny. But ve haf our vays.
In the Google grab the red dot indicates the “on the platform” shooting location, The green line indicates the new and improved shooting locations i.e shoot the traffic across the bridge, shoot the Mountaineer traffic coming and going from the CP trackage, nice long view along a good portion of the yard including the refueling track.
Yesterday I almost lost the Canadian in that maze of tracks up in the Yellow Head around Valemount. The passenger used to come across the Albreda Sub going East but they changed it since no-one needed to get on or off at the fancy concrete pad in Valemount.
As I was driving along Hwy16 I noticed a road sign: Redpass Townsite Road. Aha! On the way back I checked it out. Very good spot since all traffic from Edmonton to Vancouver and/or Prince Rupert and Prince George (ex BC Rail) comes through there.
However it isn’t exactly around the corner from home.
