A Challenge extra tid-bit tanker

Having finished the transfer caboose faster than anticipated, I decided to use the leftover bits from Daves kit, with some other bits like an old Lionel oil tank shell that have been laying around and build a tank car for the indoor layout: Frame first following Dave’s method:

Basic work is done, I still need to add some more details ans then weather it.

Hey guy… you got bored after finishing the first car, and two days latter you have another pert neer done, and there are still two weekends left in the challenge. At this rate we’ll have a whole string of cars to judge. I think that I could scrounge up some left over kit pieces if you get really bored. Glad I’m not on the car side of the comp.

Now thats REALLY bit-scrounging… using modern 100-ton Barber S-2 roller-bearing trucks on a 20-ton (loaded) narrow gauge home built tank car :stuck_out_tongue:

Just teasing, Looks pretty cool.

Dave, I'm still bored, started a flatcar using a New Bright chassis this morning. :P

JD the Gotham Harbor layout will be based more on modern standard gauge practices so those trucks should be more at home.

Aren’t you done yet? :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes John,: I’m pretty much done, maybe only a little inkwash left.

…one less car to worry about for the Harbor layout.

And here is the Bonus Challenge extra, a flatcar built using some extra basswood I still had and a New Blight car base that I wanted to make some use of. Basic framework:

Victor… lets see… we have another 10+ days left in the challenge, thats plenty of time left to whip up an engine to pull the whole string of your challenge cars with. A nice three truck shay would look right at home…

I’ll see what I can do Dave

Nice work Vic. I like that color green.

Just a quick final update, added some weathering, looks better in person than the pic, BTW these are NOT an official entry in the contest, that’s still the Transfer Caboose, they are just extra’s after the contest got my juices flowing again.
