Good looking work! Great to see step by step construction with photos.
May I ask what weight it is.

Thanks, and good question. I don’t have a small scale to weigh it on - I’m thinking about 5 pounds so far…

Nice weight, About the same as LGB Stainz and they can move mountains plus run for years!

Today I started attacking the electronics.

First up, an enclosure for the speaker. I ended up making a combination piece that is screwed to the base. It acts as a place to store the battery underneath, the Revolution receiver on top, and a seat for my driver.

The receiver isn’t fastened down yet - I’ll probably use some double sided tape to hold it in place.

Later, I hooked up some LED for the headlights and tested everything to make sure that it all works.

Once there is some glazing, I’m not sure how much of this will be visible, so I don’t think I’m going to try to cover it all up.

Hey…you allow smoking in that cab??

Yesterday I cleaned all of the brass parts. First, I used Dawn dish washing detergent to clean it. Then, some white vinegar to etch it a bit. Then another wash with Dawn.

Dried over night.

Took some primer to it today, then baked it in my little toaster oven for about 2 hours. The other pieces are in there now, baking the same way.

Didja stick a fork in it, make sure it was done?..

This is just like watching paint dry!

Looks good.

Timing is everything…

After a few hours of watching paint dry, I now have the rest of the pieces out of the oven.

Cool…now take a break and have a glass of tea and make some toast

Don’t get any toast crumbs on my model!

Great to see the progress!

Hmmm.

Sprayed some color on the primer.

Baked finish.

Put on decals.

Painted some trim.

Covered it all with Krylon Clear after first testing to make sure there wasn’t any strange reaction to the Scalecoat.

Then, I decided to bake on the clear.

Oooh. Very Bad Decision. Baking turns clear to yellow. :frowning:

Weathering! That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.

Oh no! I hope you can salvage it somehow.

Damn! Sorry to hear that.

That’s a freakin bummer!

That really s*cks.
I assume the Krylon Clear was Acrylic?
It seems to me the acrylic clear has more of a tendency to yellow than the enamel or lacquer.

Huuummm…Scuff it and paint over it or being that it’s brass get some Castrol Super Clean and soak it in a bucket and try stripping it. I would try the repaint first.
