A better way to spend 700 billion

Our government tells us we have to borrow $700 billion to free up the credit markets. They are going to buy the junk bonds and derivatives from banks, investment firms, around the world.

If I did the math correctly, this is $2,333 for every man, women and child in the United States. If this was citizens only, the dollar figure would be higher.

So let us borrow the money and invest in ourselves. Give every man, women and child $2,333. Require the money be used to either reduce debt ( mortgages, credit cards etc. ), invest in a retirement account, invest in a college education account ( children ) or use on a down payment for a home ( trust account, use now or at a later date ).
If they are retired, with no dept, $2333 cash.

This puts the same $700 billion back in the banking system while allowing Americans to either pay down personal debt or invest in their future.

One could make this even simpler. It works out to about $6,000 for every taxpayer. Set up trust accounts in each taxpayers name, fully funded. Transfers of funds only for allowable, documented uses.

Would a purchase of Bachmann K-27 be an allowable documented usage?? Or even a Accucraft K-36?? After all, it would be for my retirement and to ease my way into doddering old age?..
