7/8 Critter Build

A few weeks ago I trekked up to meet Bruce Bates of Birdwater fame. While there I acquired a few of his past kit offerings. I’ve decided to begin with the critter. I was told all the kit was built for use with the Aristo-Critter block. I didn’t have one of those, so I used a 45tonner block.

I had to adjust the frame a little to get the motor in.

I think the future 7/8 ‘stuff’ will initially run on batteries and switches.

Here’s the critter with the ‘Toby’ I built way back to Fn3 Scale…course it don’t look bad at all with the 7/8" critter…wonder if my measurements were wrong after all?

I need to get some wood filler and begin that process. To cover the wood, I sprayed a little gray primer.

while shopping wood filler, I’m going to try to locate the ugliest green/yellow/orange to finish coat it with. I’m also going to add a styrene skirt to cover the holes behind the counterweights.

looking good so far Cale. Be careful running unfinished models, they tend to stay unfinished and running around the layout (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)I think it took me 4 years to finish a Porter once it was operational.

I am really beginning to like little locos

That is a great little engine. I still prefere these over the larger engines. Lots of fun to run.

Nice! Really runs quiet too.

Gotta luv those critters. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)

Very nicely done. Looks right at home on your nice layout.
