7/8 Boxcab

Sean asked about my 7/8 boxcab, so here are a few photos. It’s a 7/8 version of the Boulder Valley Models On30 boxcab. Right now it sits on a pair of Climax trucks that I had extra, but I REALLY want to find a good 3-axle siderod type truck, or fab something with a pair of wheels and a side slab.

Lots of individual rivets

Yes, that’s Doug MacKenzie driving.

NICE!

I llike that a lot.

Anyone have the drive out of one of these

or one of these

or any similar 3-axle siderod? Thats really what this boxcab needs to be done.

Bob,

The current copy of the Narrow Gauge and Short Line Gazette, May/June 2010, has an article on building a 1:24 box cab diesel that just happens to use a 3 axle drive from an Aristo power truck that might be applicable to a 1:20.3 model as well. He fabricated sideframes from styrene and created a quite beautiful model.

I’m in some sort of black hole with NGSL, it takes several more days to get to me. :frowning:

Nice build Bob. Box cabs are always catchy

Bob,

I build 7/8N2 also. Have built a collection of various 7/8 diesels. Have the counter weights, siderods, etc.

Probably cheaper to find a wasted model as suggested above.

Bob it is nice of you to try to get that rusty piece of **** going again!
Is that a coffee pot in side?
Keep those pics coming!
