60' HyCube teaser

Guys, Started putting together a couple of 60’ HyCube boxcars. Here’s a teaser shot ;)…still a ways to go, but I got the trucks and couplers on 'em and decided to trial run them outside…all went well. Enjoy, Brian B.

Very nice!

Wow, they look great already!

Amazin’! How did you create the fore and aft walls?

Pics of the construction process, please.

Stop teasing!

Hey all, I’ve been putting together 2 of Burl Rice’s HyCube resin kits. They are great! It’s been raining here - otherwise I’d be painting them. Here’s a couple pics I just took of them. This one will be an NW car.

And this one is going to be an MP car.

I have to praise Burl on making these available. Although they don’t just snap together, they are pretty simple to assemble. His instructions are very good also. He is very talented…at both scratchbuilding and casting. His articles in GRM show some of his talent. If you want to see construction of these you’ll have to go to one of the “other” forums…Burl posted his progress in scratchbuilding these. Nice looking kit. I really like modern equipment, but dont have the real estate to run a layout large enough for it to look good on.

Those look great! What scale are they? 1:29?

Bob, maybe you could build a 1:20.3 boxcar and set it on an interchange track. I’ve thought about doing that on my layout, because it would be a neat way to show the difference in size between narrow and standard gauge. It would also represent a link to the world beyond the layout. But I doubt I’ll have room even for that.

Ray,

Yes they are 1/29th scale.
