Large Scale Central

5 & 10 cent store

We have no Likker stores north of the Mason Dixon line…If we did Milton Hershey would be rollin in his grave!

“If we did Milton Hershey would be rollin in his grave!”

He’s probably already spinning like a gyroscope from the liberties Hershey Estates (or whatever they are called now) has taken with his will. Hershey Junior College was probably one of the first casualties from liberties taken with the will. I was in the last graduating class, May 1965.

And there were still state stores in PA last year when I was there for ECLSTS. But then it HAS been almost a year. Our local version is called an ABC store (for Alcoholic Beverage Commission). One of my irreverent friends calls it the American Boy’s Club.

Have fun,
David Meashey

I decided I needed a little boy peeking in the store window. I broke out the Magic Sculpt and created this one - and I had a dog left over from my Toob of Dogs, so I thought he would look good with the boy. Still has to be painted, of course, but I’m pleased with the effect.

I didn’t do much detail on the face - I don’t think anyone can get close enough to see it.

Nice Bruce!

Reminds me of how I would lust for the Plasticville I didn’t have as yet while prowling the aisles of our local Woolworths during the Christmas shopping seasons of the mid-1950s.

Best,
David Meashey

Now that adds a nice touch!

And now I can say "What he said" ! ! !

Is there a Lionel Train in there?

Nice work on that figure, and the dog is the cherry on top!

If there isn't there should be!! :) Or perhaps a Buddy L?? I suppose z scale would be a bit big for Buddy L ?

There’s a locomotive in there, but it’s HUGE. It works, though. All painted up…

Nice!

Wow, that looks great!

Where the heck did you get the little water tower?

Michael's has a "Toob" of Trains...that was in there along with a tiny station, loco, caboose, and some cars. All a little big, but it helps fill up the window...

That would probably work for one of those old “Buddy L” train sets…they were a pretty good size.

Very nice, Bruce! I can’t say enough. It made me go back through the whole thread to appreciate it more. Well done!

Bruce. would this one work better? I have it in a bin someplace I think it worked out to something like 3-1/2" gauge in 1:24

I think that might be the same one I have, Mik.

Andy C. pointed out the water tower you used, yesterday when we were “researching” another project.

What a great photo Bruce! Bet you could win another photo contest at “the other place”! Wonderful modeling too. That’s one of the best model photos I’ve seen for a long time.
