40th Anniversary

Today, 8/23, Susie and I celebrate 40 years together. The day started by going to the YMCA, mowing the yard, and running the SD45 coal train. We will eat lunch with daughter, son-in-law and grandkids, and go to dinner theater this evening. Susie is the best thing that ever happened to me. [even though she is only luke-warm on trains]. Then:

Prosit!

Congratulations Jim,
“Lukewarm” is a good thing. My wife “tolerates” my trains.
Maybe after 40 years she will step up to the “lukewarm” level!
Ralph

You’ve got quite a catch in Susie, Jim. A woman that understands the need to play with trains.   It sounds like the two of you have a full afternoon planned.

  Happy Anniversary!!!

The Old Fardt in Oregun

That’s precious!

My stormy marriage only lasted 14 years.

Hey, Piman! Congratulations!

congratulations–well done!

To All, Thanks for the kind and wonderful comments, well wishes, and… jabs… Yes, I have aged much more than Susie. She is even a few days older than I am [Shhhh.]. If you are interested in seeing the announcement that was in the newspaper, along with an extended profile/pictures, that are online with the Wichita Eagle newspaper, go to: http://www.legacy.com/Kansas/Celebrations.asp?Page=Announcement&PersonID=116113239 The day went perfectly. The weather was hot, but not oppressive, trains ran well, Wichita Botanic Gardens were beautiful, Grandkids were happy, Shrimp Lunch was good, and the Crown Uptown dinner playhouse was very funny. Again, thanks for the supportive comments. Our next goal is 50 years. Susie and Jim Carter

Jim, you and Susie should be proud of your years and kids. We hit 40 last August, big deal with the kids, this year we almost forgot it! Jerry

How wonderful. The young ones are the true history of your love and marriage. For them to know their heritage, and your love for each other, in a time when many children don’t even know who their Dad is, is a statement of your devotion. God Bless both of you

Beautiful family.

That’s a lovely announcement, Jim! Congratulations, and bring on 50!!!

I did a swing west in 1970 with a friend from college, and we stopped in Wichita. From memory, there was a replica of a street from the old cow town that we, as a couple of recent US History grads, found interesting.
