I just finished making a kit for turn of the century wooden cabs that fit both the Bachmann 1:20.32 4-4-0 and the 2-6-0. If you are interested about reading how the kit was made check out This page It shows the step be step process of building the molds. If you are interested in how the kit is assembled go Here
Richard that looks great. Are you going to cast a few extra to sell???
It would help pay for your project!!!
anyway nice job
Mike
Nice work…and mighty tempting. Rumor has it that I’ll be getting a 2-6-0 shortly…and that could work. Could you post the dimensions?
Sweet! nice to know I at least know how to make a mold like a master…
Thanks, yes, I’m selling kits and assembled ones from my site. The kits goes together quicker than doing it from scratch, but its not for a beginners. The molds tend to tweak the parts a little here and there in places that weren’t on the master parts.
Assembled properly the foot print is exactly 4 5/32" wide by 3" long and 3 7/8" to the top of the curved roof. the roof is 4 9/16 " long. The boiler cut away fits the bachmann 1:20.32 4-4-0 and 2-6-0. Hope that helps
As usual. Very nice.
Nice work. I’m curious about the castings, which appear to be pretty thin. Do you have to embed something in the resin for reinforcement, or is the resin alone strong enough?
The resin is actually stronger than the styrene of the same thickness, so no, embeded materials needed.

I mounted this new cab on Lanakila this weekend. It feels a lot more substantial than the styrene did.
