Well i’m sick of having to drive over to the library to use theirs, so why not try printing a 3d printer

The current build plate for the extruder will take 6 hours to print, will post pics when available and keep a running total for this build
My friend is building his second one of these, he never finished the first one, and I believe he never will finish the second one either. I am lucky enough to have a 3d printer at work.
This is the platform carriage, still need an extender piece to print
end frame with motor mount, have to pick up the other end today, then I can start assembly of the carriage frame
the main frame, not sure if I will leave the black piece or print a white one, ocd is killing me
kinda in place to show the relationship of these pieces
also experimenting with printing my own bearing assemblies
Who cares about color as long as it works.
Yea, I agree Vic. Besides, a can of spray paint can usually fix that.

I agree that printing the bearing assemblies might be considerably cheaper than purchased metal ones, but I don’t believe you will be happy with how quickly they wear out and the lack of consistency in printing. I am aware there are some real hard plastics out there, ie delrin, but I doubt you are printing delrin.

Bob, ended up scrapping the bearings cause I realized I had some old inline skates I havn;t used in 13 years, 5 wheels = 10 608z bearings

I think it’s neat you are using a 3-D printer to make a 3-D printer! I’d just leave the colors, adds interest.
