3D printed GRS Type VA dwarf signal

Most of you know that I like RR signals, and have been looking around for some to purchase. The ones I’ve found are either far enough away to have it make no sense, or so high priced I cannot afford them.

Anyway, my favorite signal is the GRS Type VA dwarf signal.

Jim, at 1BdrWorkshop (https://1bdrworkshop.com/ - no affiliation) has 3d printed 1/2 scale models that he’s selling, so I obtained one. This thing is fantastic. He’s done a lot of research and made the model look and behave like the real one. Took me about five minutes to assemble it (the hoods and lenses are wrapped separately) and put it through its paces.

And for those of you that are interested, here’s how they work and what the various aspects mean.

Pretty neat! Where are you going to set it up? :innocent:

Hah. Probably going to end up on the shelf above my desk. It looks like it just PLA and the electronics aren’t protected in any way. Not an outside model.

You could always keep it next to the lighthouse! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Very cool Bob. Thanks for sharing the printed signal and the documentation on how they work. Interesting information. I’m not a big signal guy, but I do like learning how they work.

very cool. When this thread popped up I was thinking little detail parts. Much to my surprise you are working with a half scale replica. Pretty neat.

So WHAT will YOU be using outside? :innocent:

I’ve been looking for a real one of these, and a US&S H-2 type dwarf signal, for a while now. So far nothing close by has come up.

Running it through all the available aspects.

PS: Product thought: a mini-version, worn by wife as a broach, wired to her mood ring…

That would be very beneficial, Cliff. I’ll give my wife your email address when I propose it to her :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I do have one in 1:20.3 that I’ve been working on
