32mm indoor layout - Elk Mountain Lodge Light Rwy

Wanted to run live steam in the winter, working on this layout. It’s built with Peco 32mm track to represent a 2 ft. Narrow Gauge line serving the Elk Mountain Lodge. The layout is the engine terminal area with a 2 stall engine house and shop, a car barn for the passenger equipment, and the commissary/warehouse complex for the Lodge. The main layout is 8 ft. by 26 inches, with an 18 in. extended switching lead.

Elk Mountain Lodge located in the Rocky Mountains in 1901 offers Guided Hunting and Fishing parties, Resort Facilities for the ladies, and indoor/outdoor Hot Springs therapeutic pools, all with First Class accommodations. The Lodge is open Spring, Summer, and Fall, and closed Winters. Management is considering Winter operations involving newly developed Ski slopes and the Hot Springs complex.

The Elk Mountain Lodge Light Railway was built by British expatriates, and they utilize shipped in railway equipment rebuilt for heavier American standards, such as link and pin couplers.

Motive power for indoors operations is a Live Steam vertical boiler Regner Chaloner.

This small switching layout serves these various functions; loads in and empties out for the warehouse area, making up the passenger train, and switching cars into the shop for repairs.

Hope you enjoy!

Looks like a nice use of the space Jim.

Thanks guys! 32mm track seems to fit nicely in the room.

The Peco turnouts needed modifying for the Sierra Valley wheels to run thru them smoothly, had to grind down the guard rails to create more flange clearance on the curved side of the turnout.

Can’t wait for the Regner Chaloner to arrive!
