30 degree curve?

OK, hotshots, what is the radius of a 30 degree curve? I know I’ve asked something like this before, but the concept dribbled out of my brain.

Can anyone help me out? (I came in through that door over there…)

192 feet or so. The degree of a curve is angle created by two lines from the center of the circle to points on the circle segment separated by a chain of 100 feet. Or, if you are at a point on the circle, and measure out 30 degrees, then run your chain out 100 feet.

Thanks, Bob, it finally makes sense.

Exact measurement is 193.2feet as per the table in Paul Mallery’s “Trackwork Handbook”

So in 1:29, it would be roughtly a 5 ft radius (10 ft Diameter) That is very rough, as I just wanted to make sure that my 10 ft Aristo track would look sort of ok, there.

Dave,

You mean I’m getting too predictable? :stuck_out_tongue:
