$30 shim for a $7 coupler seems reasonable.

The design endeavor for establishing the location and proper railhead height of a given 3-D printed coupler box, that includes its spacing, is done with the consideration of prototype rolling stock or loco with practical compromise when needed for operation down to 8 foot diameter track curves. Rolling stock boxes typically have an integrated spacer, whereas, loco boxes typically are provided with a discrete pedestal.
