Large Scale Central

2nd Annual RGS Ops 2018

I didn’t take many pictures, but these are the better ones.

I’m not certain what happened here. I heard all manner of screaming coming from the occupants of the two cabeese. They may have died…

Some serious plotting going on here…

Meanwhile, the Canadian invaders are strategizing as well ???

Some classic song lyrics come to mind {the morning sun really shows your age}

I can’t thank Ken & Bev enough for being fantastic hosts. I really enjoyed it - next year is already on the must attend list.

Looks like everyone had a grand time. I’m going to attend this event one of these days. Hey Ken, if you would move like to, say, Alabama, I could attend every year. Wouldn’t that be worth the trouble to move and rebuild the RR one more time??? (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif). Thanks to all who shared their photos.

That decision wouldn’t be entirely up to me. The CFO would probably have a lot to say about that idea. But there is a bus service that travels between Illinois and PA, if you ask nice they may detour to Waverly on their way here…(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

We were fortunate that we had some nice weather.

From all the pictures, looks like a fantastic time was had by all…

And, as stated before, The layout looks beautiful… Maturing nicely… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Railway looks great Ken!

Would have liked to have traveled down and be there, but after just coming back from Virginia the weekend prior and dealing with the unbelievable out of control traffic we dealt with… I am pretty sure I would have lost my mind if I had to do it again in such a short amount of time!

Thanks, Vinny, and I don’t blame a bit for not wanting to go through that ordeal again…(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Another good idea that came out of this Ops session:

A map on the clip boards

Yup, To me, that’s a must have… Been doing that for years, here… However, I do need to update the map to include last years addition… hmmmmm…

Ya know, Ken is starting to look more and more like Johnny Jett!

Is that Joan’s brother??..(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Check out DIY Channel for “Barnwood Builders”, about a company from West Virginia that takes down old log cabins, and repurposes the lumber.

Or look on the internet like the kids do today.

Hey Lou,

I’ve watched that program many times and think of Ken every time I see that guy operating the forklift/k loader. Ken and him even act alike.

The “Canadian Express” finally delivered the GTW Box Car to the IPP&WRR and I got a confirmation call from Fred that he did receive it. However,

it had been so long that he didn’t remember ordering it. I believe you got it to me in March of 2016 at the ECLSTS. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

It was interesting to see the track layouts of the railroad. Mancos looks great to me and although I am unfamiliar with the dimensions of the depots and yards it seems to me that Mancos could provide a few furrowed brows in that LCL siding had more cars that usual - well it did happen I am sure on the big railroads. Ken, like many of us, loves to have cars in your way, or at least in the wrong order - believe me, it’s not just Mancos!

Last year it had Jon Radder’s brow furrowed, I think, into a permanent state. …(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Jon lost weight just thinking about it? (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)

Bruce could lose 10 lbs if he shaved his beard… I’m thinking he is in Rebel mode this year and Ken’s Ops kicked it off . Glad I was able to attend. Good stuff guys and thanks for having me!

You’re always welcome, Rooster!

Fried? I was thinking roasted.

Good schematics, Ken. I especially like the directions and locations of the last and next towns along the top. Good detail.

And just to add insult to injury Fred told me today he realized already had that car on the inventory!
