28 foot boxcars in 1:20.3

Next up we have two 28 foot wood boxcars in 1:20.3 scale. These are two of the original run 28 foot kits that came out 15 or so years ago. Metal details and trucks, AMS couplers. $150/bo plus shipping.

Bob you are really selling off the stuff. Are you quitting on us?

I’m selling off most of my wooden cars. I like to keep my rolling stock outside because we’re having more and more people want to see the RR run, so Im converting over to all plastic/metal cars. Selling off the basic boxcars I have and will replace as I find them. Some special woood cars I’m keeping, but the generic boxcars I’m selling off. I have a bunch of operations-quality 30 foot cars, too, if anyone is interested.

Maybe you should charge admission to cover operational costs…(tongue in cheek). That explains a lot, plastics and metal do stand up much better out doors with much less maintenance than wood does. Those are nice cars, I just have too many now and need to cull my herd some. Maybe in the spring.

How about a track in to the storage shed, so you’d always have a train ready to run?

Love the “natural weathering” on the roof!

Those are great looking cars. Alas–like you–I find myself gravitating towards plastic cars for my everyday roster. Much less stress due to weather concerns. I’ve got a few wood pieces still in regular service, but most have been rebuilt or replaced.

Later,
