Large Scale Central

250 ton Steam Crane

My latest build - 250 ton steam crane in 1/29th scale. I will continue to post pictures on my website as I detail it out. If you have any questions about the model, feel free to drop me a line at [email protected] Thanks for looking Alan www.thegalline.com

Alan that is AWSOME!!!

Beautiful job!! The only thing that put me off was the $100+ shipping + insurance + customs tax + VAT - adding almost $300 to the cost.

Mind you, IF the sheets fitted inside my baggage I’d be very tempted - it really is a wondrous piece of equipment.

More more more, please.

BTW, when I click on the link, all I get is a an otherwise blank page with a letter ‘o’ in the top left corner…

Agreed looks cool as hell, Can you give us the dimensions and a photo of the kit before assembly ?

thank you all for your comments.

Nick
The Car body is 4.5 inches by 15 inches. The boom is 17 inches long.
I do not have any pictures of the unassembled model but I can tell
you that I counted about 359 separate laser cut parts.

So cool…

Alan,

How about fixing the broken order information link.

Bob
I am not sure what is broken. At the bottom of the first page is a link to this page.

Alan,

I have the link issue in both Firefox and Chrome, Opera and IE 8 the link works fine. Go Figure.

I will have to look at web sites that don’t work in Firefox in one of the others before I complain, although as the webmaster for my club web site, I always check my pages in all four of the majors, and I am looking into two others as well.

Any further up dates on building with Pics? Later RJD

That sure is a AWESOME looking CRANE but much to rich for my blood.

RJ
I have put my crane aside for a couple of weeks. I am working on 2 new design commissions, one of which is an idler flat for the crane. I will get back on the crane next month and have it at York.
Paul Rose is narrating his build on the Aristo Website under off topic forum.

SWEET!

How do you operate the cable reels or are they fixed?

Mark
The winch frames are designed for RC servos. This crane I set up for manual operation. I put a knob at the end of each cable drum shaft. The other end has a collar that works as a friction brake.

Very nice!

One more question…What are you using for glue? Looks like you could even get away without painting.

I use testers liquid cement and/or super glue. Depends on what I am gluing.
The crane pictured has a light coat of flat black paint. The tender is unpainted.
