!/24th scale rolling stock

Accucraft 1/24th scale brass boxcar, tank, and flat cars that needs to find a new home. These cars have never been run. $200 or best offer for all three. These are some very nice cars and the roll very good.

Rodney,

Who is the manufacturer and you say they are all brass? Is there 3 cars or 4? The box car(s?) does not look like the same car.

Ric:

Manufactured by Accucraft.

Accucraft started by producing models in 1:24 scale, ignoring the incorrect scale / gauge relationship. That was before 1:20 was ‘discovered.’ They are really good models for someone modeling in 1:24. Pretty rare too.

As Jerry said they are Accucraft and there is only one boxcar.

Jerry
I didn’t know that they are rare. Thanks

Rodney

Rodney:

Of course “rare” is mostly in the minds of the seller and the collector!!

In fact, the Accucraft 1:24 production was kind of short lived, no longer available, but in a scale that many modelers and operators find to fit their interests. There are significant advantages to 1:24 scale, including the availability of accessories such as structures and vehicles.

Accucraft also made a few locomotives in their early day 1:24 line. I’ve seen the 4-4-0 lettered for NPC if memory is correct. I also think they made at least one of the Colorado NG engines in 1:24. I don’t remember which other engines they did, but what they termed their “classic” line has virtually disappeared from the 'net.

Accucraft did a 1:24 model of a SF cable car for the 2006 National Garden Railway convention in Santa Clara. It was the convention car, and is both unique, and beautiful. They also recently delivered the Disney Lily Belle in 1:24.

BTW, I have a 1:24 scale Precision Scale model of Westside Lumber Co. Shay #15 that is only used for static display. My operating railroad is all 1:20 scale, and the Shay is just too small visually. Although the Shay is 45mm gauge, PSC also built some with the correct 1 1/2" gauge trucks. Unfortunately, PSC no longer have these available. I would really like to find a set to put under my Shay in its (static) diorama.

I think the Colorado NG locomotive that they did was the C-16. I know PCS did a few locomotives and some rolling stock. I didn’t know that PCS made anything in 1/24th with the correct gauge. I do have 2 PCS 20.3 peaked roof cabooses. I’ve run one so much that some of the bearings froze and wore the axle journal off. On that one I’ve machined new Sierra Valley wheels for it.

BTW do you think the price I have on this is about right??? I saw a pair of trucks like what is under these cars sell on e-bay for $61 last week.
I might list them on e-bay latter next week and see what happens.

Rodney:

As far as I know, the 1/24 PSC Shay was the only one that had the correct gauge trucks available. I don’t think they delivered the Shay with the 1 1/2" gauge trucks. They had to be bought separately. By the time I decided to get them, they were no longer available. Some day I might take a look at narrowing the 45mm gauge ones.

As to your pricing, I think it’s fair, and you have all bases covered with “. . . or make offer . . .” I did find a couple of the locomotives (4-4-0s) that have recently sold for prices in the mid teens. Probably a little less than the new price.
