2021MIK Feed Truck

I actually feel like the photos don’t do a good job of highlighting se of the details. This pickup truck is about 80-90% done.

The feed truck cab is nearing completion as well. Waiting until the tank is set on the frame to build and add the wind deflector. Somehow or another I lost the clear, red and amber lights for the truck so I get to go searching Ebay for them. Thankfully, I think all the AMT trucks used the same sprues and have extra lights.

So I either buy some spare sprues

I mean I have an extra set of DeYoung decals and I’ve been told they had a conventional tractor that hauled a full sized trailer ( see my first post). Then I would have to build said trailer… Humm

Well I did a thing today in reference to the above post…

You’ll will just have to wait and see what option I did.

Oops.

im guessing you got the KW and will build the tractor trailer, trailer is probably 40’ scale length

Well damn… I actually grabbed a Western Star one… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-undecided.gif)

Now I’ve got to find a trailer kit I can bash or something else. I was thinking the trailer would be 40’ as well. So a tank of 35’?

This is 1000% Devon’s fault now. I wouldn’t have even begun to think about these projects yet.

I have one of these new in the box if that could work.

Todd,

You’re not helping the addict…

That’s probably as close as I could start with.

Hum.

Actually Todd, I bet I could bash something up using the parts I have on hand still. I still have a decent enough mold to make more tires (I think I would only need to make 6 more). About the only thing that I don’t have extra laying around would be the trailer axle springs.

Now I’ve really gone into the deep end! But it’s on track because I wanted to work on my model of T-D Feeds this spring so this is for that project, right?

Which one did you say was low on air

This truck is done for now. Working on the feed truck now and trying to wrap up that build sometime in the next few days. Then onto some light weathering and only 60 days if building, right?

Just to prove that I am actually still working on this…

Round 2 of the tank looks so much better already.

Nice work that pickup looks great!

The pickup came out great. The new tank is looking good as well.

You know what would look really good with this feed truck, Devon?

A feed mill… I’m 100% blaming you for making me build this model and not working on the layout. Because of you I’ve now got another small side project going as well. Quit being such an enabler to this modeler addict.

No

I believe just less than 24 hours ago you volunteered a new toy of yours… I would only need about 500 sq ft of siding produced?

I might have to rescind my offer if I am making 1:29 industrial buildings. If you need a door knob let me know.

What? Actually what I need printed up are some scale coupler draft gear boxes and a few small parts to replace the missing part in the roof when I remove roofwalks from boxcars.

Get me files or at the very least some pictures and dimensions. The only scale coupler draft gear boxes i intend to make are KADEE knock offs. So I will need something to go on. An already drafted .stl file would be real nice.

Devon,

Shhhh, the scale draft gear box design is Burl’s that he sent to me to modify. I’ve got to tweak it a bit still ( make the mounting screw holes a bit beefier), but the idea is to print it so it is a drop fit into USAT boxcar mounting pad. For some odd reason they used the G sized mounting pads for the Kadee, not the #1 pad.

Tank is now 90% complete. Going to add some primer and paint hopefully tonight and add the final last little details.

Quick little mockup on the truck.

Once the tank is glued on, I can add the mud flaps, paint the wheels, add the hydraulic lines, mount the cab, and finish the last few details.
