2020 Mik's Build Challenge

Well, I finished the Middleton office building a few days ago and started on it’s companion structure. That one, for a number of reasons, would not be acceptable for this contest (it’s a place to stash under-dressed female figures and has a flat roof). However, there is a spot in Middleton that is big enough for another structure recommended to me by posters here: a certain Russian Orthodox church. (Not sure about the chimney, but it could be wedged in somehow.) There’s just enough left of the old scribed siding to build this structure. Rough part will be the onion dome - no ideas there.

So, once the one building is out of the way, my build project will be the church…

Okay I’ll bite, I have an oddball idea.

Let me guess. . .an outhouse with a fireplace in it.

Slightly bigger (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

I’m going to have to pass this year. Too many other projects I’m trying to clear off the bench. But I will be waiting and watching.

Craig, We’ll miss you on this one… You might reconsider and do this one, cause you just might not like next years…LOL

Christmas ornament on sale right now for half price just about everywhere?

Nice try Dave, but I’m trying to be more focused and deliberate with my modeling this year (the “new year” for me always starts with the new school year). So far, in 5 months I crossed off exactly 1.9 projects and started exactly 0 new ones. I’m trying to keep that streak alive. And to be completely honest I don’t think I could get what I would want to get done in 30 days.

Yah, well I have a goal in mind and damn it I’m going to get it done.

My list: Brian Briggs Boxcar (had to restart), Pettibone (almost done), convert 1 loco to DCC to use Protothrottle (done), ball bearings on all USAT rolling stock (done), Kadee couplers with Burl’s draft gear on USAT rolling stock (done), build layout (need to survey), finish TD Feed mills, finish Snow Dozer…

I’m setting a goal also. See how many projects I can start only to let get stalled because I am Devoning them to death. . . oh yeah same goal as last year. . .and the year before. . . tell you what since I respect the challenge you are facing I will tentatively vow to finish the Geep.

I gladly take that GP project on Devon!

The hard thing is, the building next to TD Feeds has a nice chimney and I eventually want to model it. So it is taking a lot of personal restraint not to start a new project.

I am in this year

Dave,

E-mail sent with address! We are still bickering about the “what,” but there was never a doubt about our participation!

Eric have you played Ticket To Ride? They also have a junior game for smaller rr fans

Pete, no, though Ticket to Ride has been reccomended to us. We like RR Tycoon as it builds on some of the other tile laying and trading games we play. I think they publish RR Tycoon as Railways of the World, now, and if you need a game you can teach in 20 minutes, is pretty luck free, and has stood the test of time.

Off-topic…Sorry…but for those at war with the Silicon Succubus, there are good board games out there, and some have train themes, and train themes lead to trains…

Eric

@ John C. To try and give everyone the same starting point, I think it’s best if you use the “Kit” as a starting point.

Modify all you want, Even add stones to the outside if you want… go for it…

Rule #1 applies…

Be sure to put a legible return address on it, I lost your addy in the clean up. I’ll send $5 for your retirement fund!(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

The Chimney Kits have all gone out, and should be arriving in the next few days…

5x7" Manilla envelope… be looking for it, First Class US Mail.

Except for these:

Lou 08816 2 sets

Pete 85382 Still waiting on an E-mail

Neal 97530 just got the request, mailed in a couple days…

Dave, I will donate two custom made, train themed pens to the prize pool. You can determine how to award them or if you’d rather I come up with the method let me know and I will make some suggestions.
