Large Scale Central

2020 Convention will be in ??????

Michael, Gregory, Dennis, John Greg and Devon in Portland… well that makes eight of us.

Possibly Pete and Hollywood.

Ray? Vic?

Over a year to plan…this could be something… and plenty of time to save up bail money.

And the engineer who runs the Tortoise & Lizard Bash Garden Railroad…with unsurpassed animated exhibits…from Santa Ana California…Todd Brody!!

And let’s see if “Gentleman Jim Rowson” plans on making the trip. Another BAGR amongst us.

Holy heat wave, Batman. If I lived in a 110-degree desert and my brother were trying to lure me to Portland, which has a lot of railroad things, I might consider, seriously consider, jump the next boxcar north!

My wife will be coming, and I’m stopping off in the Bay area to drag Ted Doskaris up with us.

Greg

I’m going to try to attend at least Friday or Saturday of the Portland convention. We normally have that week before school as a week of staff meetings, but we can take leave. Depending on the situation, it might be worth taking a day or two of leave to come down to Portland.

I doubt I will have railroad up by then (planning on moving in the next year or so), but i will try and bring a few models down.

Maybe we can do a west coast Drag and Brag?

Hi Dennis,

How far off the beaten path will you venture?

I think a day for the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic RR in S Co/N NM is worth the detour, then the next day a short jog west for the Durango and Silverton RR in SW Co.

Making reservations well in advance…

Since Portland has some options, I plan on flying and staying with family there. My brother who tried to entice me up there a year early, rattled off a bunch of train related things to do.

Have done both of those several times.

How about some smaller lines. This was suggested to me.

Mt. Rushmore, the nearby 1880 Train.

Sumpter, OR the Sumpter Valley RR.

I might reconsider if it were your brother …

Hmmm a D&B at the NGRC… never been done before but I suppose we could try it. (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Boomer I don’t think there talking about your sorry a…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-yell.gif)

If they can do it @ York why not Portland.

Well, I for one am sure glad we’re starting to plan early. We may need a couple local D & B training sessions before Portland …

Hehehhe Sean, I am really just trying to bait someone from BAGRS into volunteering to organize it. (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

But I like Gregory’s idea…practice brag and drags… Yes multiple get togethers to train for pizza eating and beer drinking. Oh and throw in some train discussion if you must.

Just a thought, but maybe talk and planning about the 2019 Portland convention should be in this thread:

http://www.largescalecentral.com/forums/topic/28310/2019-national-garden-railway-convention-updates/view/post_id/365028

There’s more discussion in this thread about the 2019 Portland convention than the 2020 convention. Some may skip over this 2020 convention-titled thread and miss out on some of the 2019 convention info. Orrrrr…change the title of this thread to 2019 Portland Convention! Orrrrr…I’ll just shut up!

Based on information documented in the above NGRC link, this thing looks like it’s gonna be a humdinger! Especially with the layout tour bus ride.

There is only one post on that thread…

The OP only wanted to tell us where to get updates…

Perhaps we start a new thread just for “Are you going to Portland in 2019?”

Greg

I’m planning on going to Nashville in 2020. Wonder what it would take to get it to Milwaukee…
