Doug, heck no. I have certain vendors that I try and get to first. If they move them around, how will I find them??
Give them a call at the entrance, using your ‘smartiephone’ ?
Personally, I like our IASTshow where maybe only a couple vendors/exhibitors are in the same location, so the show stays ‘fresh’ and interesting. Even then, I’ve heard peoples sounding disgruntled regards product, vendors and other things that (within their personal mindset) don’t change.
BTW, I’ve been lucky to attend ECLSTS* where (like ours) wandering round, finding various vendors, attendees, visiting old friends, and occ. spotting interesting items to purchase was the “journey” … but then I attended both days whereas others are on a short leash
Hope ya all enjoy the new ECLSTshow !

As usual, Jean & I will be at the drag & brag on Friday night. Great times! Bring your money to buy some neat stuff…well, it could be neat. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)

Will you be dressed in Drag ?
I will be attending. You should all be afraid.
Yawn.
We made the decision today to skip ECLSTS this year. With Ken having an op session in late April we can’t do both AND fly to Denver this summer; so I’ll miss seeing all of you that can’t make Ken’s. Maybe next year.
However, you never know. I may get antsy and decide attending the D&B is worth a marathon same day trip. I did that once before a bunch of years ago.
I was looking forward to seeing you again at the early bird special John, but totally understand.
John, you were much younger then!
I just got word that I am approved for the days off I need to get to the ECLSTS. Now I need to find a place to sleep.
Just talked to Don at Star Hobby. The mystery show car is a Roberts Meats Reefer.
The show t shirt will be blue and have Harry’s Pickup truck with a steam engine behind it. And he said they will have more L, XL, &2XL.
So I will have to find a space to store a show car after the show this year. Thanks Lou.
And I may have to get a shirt this year too.
My picture of the reefer is the best HO model I could find. There will be 2 numbers available. Only 100 made. I did not ask if that was 100 of each number. I also forgot to ask price.
The ECLSTS website looks like it has not been updated. Most likely due to Harry’s passing and no one else has access??
So, how do we know what vendors are coming this year.
Communication, in this age of high tech is often neglected, and often the people running shows fail to value how much a simple note once in a while, on a web page like this can influence the public.
I called Star Hobbies, way back when I first heard that they were taking over the ECLST, and suggested that a glance, once in a while, towards the forums at LSC might keep them informed of what some of their possible show attendees might be asking. I told them that it would not cost them a cent, or more than a few minutes a week, to monitor such web pages as this…
The only thing I would suggest, is to pick up your telephone, and dial their number…you can even use a rotary dial, if you haven’t gone digital yet. Just Google Star Hobbies, and get their telephone number.
I don’t wonder at so many old Brick and Mortar hobby shops going out of business. It seems that they more often than not, fail to try to advertise to their potential customers through FREE access on web pages such as this. Look at the remaining successful suppliers we hear of that communicate here on this Web page… Star Hobbies, could be here too, just like Train World is…at very little or no cost.
Word of mouth advertisement is fine, up to a point, but when you want to run/operate a successful Annual show…you have to use all the resources possible, and LSC is just one…of many. Why should the customers have to do all the work ?

I tend to promote our shows not strictly for the vendors sake, but to promote the hobby !
Although I do tend to give a shout out about vendors (and other unrelated venues with CommunityInterestBulletinBoards) who gladly accept and in some cases ‘aggressively’ distribute any handout promo material I’ve supplied them with. We have one local hobby shop who sold off all their LS almost 10yrs ago but still has the small scale MR products. Since November they have distributed over 500 show poster handouts. Every 2-3 wks I try to drop-in to top them up until there is an indication that their consumer base has been saturated. This is a shop (management and frontline staff) that recognizes that if they promote the show the people who heard about our show, possibly saw or sought out that supplier of hobby related product at the show will appear back days-weeks later to the venue where they heard about the show, and purchase something.
ie for the last 3 yrs a neighbourhood A&W franchisee owner has allowed me to drop off (wkly) 5-6 handout posters on the shelf-top of their daily freebie local paper dispenser during my (min.) wkly lunch visit. He has personally seen at least couple kids pick up a handout or two and show it to their adult significant-others, who declare with happy face/voice “awesome the train show is coming up” ! He recognizes happy faces/minds mean return customers.
Did ECLSTS organizers (historically) ever offer/rollout hardcopy handouts/posters to pass on to any interested (regional) LS clubs that the members could have subsequently dropped off at their local hobby shops and other materiel source vendors. Or did they just depend on the regional travel bureau attractions periodical (saw that), maybe an news article the week/day of ('dang it, i missed another train show), and various LS forums.
ie. Being newly in ‘charge’ of mailouts for our annual show, I was confirming the list so reached out via email to a eastern Canada supplier of (small scale) rolling stock (predominantly long distance) business. The owner wrote back in less than a day saying yes please send a couple hundred handouts, and enlightened me he includes at least one handout in each order and a lot of his clients are from western NorthAmerica. I don’t believe he has ever travelled west with boothspace at our show, but recognizes promo the show(s), it helps his bottomline in the future.
If I acquire hardcopy posters I tend to post/circulate but the host/organizer are mistaken if they think I’ll use my printer ink (that is when/where I draw dah line)
Phhffft late lunch (nope the A&W was yesterday)

Dan, at Star Hobbies…I called him again, and tried to explain that he should come here to this Forum. Somehow he has posted just a one liner in the Chat Room…
The ECLSTS is ALIVE AND KICKING…Their problem is that Harry passed away and took the passwords and control information for the ECLSTS web page with him…
LOOK FORWARD TO A GREAT SHOW this year…ALL IS WELL. For any information, call Dan at: (410) 349-4290…he is good to speak with.
We all need to support him and his crew, as much as we can…it isn’t just about how much you can afford to spend at the show…it’s about attending if you possibly can, and even if all you can afford is the admission and an iced cream cone…that will help. Just meeting your many friends, and new friends you make, is worth the admission price.

Thank you, Fr. Fred. So sorry you will not be there!
1 week to go!
